Delivery

How much does delivery cost?
It is free in metropolitan France, with no minimum purchase, and costs €3.90 everywhere else — overseas territories, European Union, Switzerland, United States, French-speaking Africa and the Maghreb. Outside the European Union, customs duties remain your responsibility.

How long until I receive my order?
Allow 8 to 15 business days in metropolitan France, from the moment payment is confirmed. These are business days: in calendar weeks, that comes to about two to three weeks. To all other destinations — overseas territories, European Union, international, French-speaking Africa and the Maghreb — allow 15 to 30 business days, with a tracking number as soon as it ships. That is long, and we say so before you pay.

Why this delay?
Our pieces do not ship from a French warehouse. That is exactly what makes a €13.90 bonnet possible instead of a €30 one. The day we hold stock in advance in France, the delay will drop and the price will rise: we chose the other balance, and we say so before you pay rather than after.

What happens after I order?
Confirmation by e-mail straight away, preparation within 24 to 48 business hours, then a tracking number as soon as it ships. If you have not received it after five business days, write to us.

Do you deliver abroad and to overseas territories?
Yes, to more than fifty destinations: Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion and Mayotte, the whole European Union, Switzerland, the United States, as well as the French-speaking Africa and Maghreb zone — Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Niger, Benin, Togo, Cameroon, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Chad, Mauritania, Madagascar, Comoros, Djibouti, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Haiti. We do not deliver to the United Kingdom.

Are there extra taxes for overseas territories?
It is possible. Local taxes, including the octroi de mer, may apply on entry into the territory. They are collected by customs, not by us, and we cannot estimate the amount in advance.

And customs fees outside the European Union?
Yes, it is likely. A parcel going to Switzerland or the United States may be subject to customs duties, import tax and administrative fees charged by the carrier.

For the United States in particular, the exemption that used to spare small parcels from duties was removed in August 2025: everything is taxed, whatever the amount. The final cost can therefore far exceed the displayed price. We would rather warn you, even if it puts you off.

Products

Is it real silk?
No, and we would rather say so clearly: our bonnets, durags, wave caps and pillowcases are made of polyester satin, and our bedding set of viscose satin. Satin is a weave, not a fiber — it can be woven from silk, polyester or viscose. It offers the glide and the lack of absorption that matter for your hair, at a much more affordable price. Only the heatless curler is not satin — see below.

How do I choose between your pieces?
The bonnet preserves volume, curls and braids. The durag smooths and works waves thanks to its compression. The wave cap is a discreet skullcap: it is not sold individually; it is included in the 3-piece set. The pillowcase takes no getting used to and also protects the skin of the face. The bedding set extends the pillowcase across the whole bed, as a 200 × 200 cm duvet cover. The heatless curler is the only one that creates a hairstyle instead of protecting it. Do your pillowcases fit a French pillow?
Yes, and that is why we sell only two sizes. Satin bedding is almost always made to American sizing — Standard 50 × 66 cm, Queen 50 × 76 cm, King 50 × 91 cm — and most sellers offer them without ever specifying which pillow they fit. We offer the 65 × 65 cm, the exact size of the French square pillow, and the 50 × 75 cm for the rectangular 50 × 70 one, which is what the market calls Queen, within one centimeter of the standard. Is the 50 × 75 an American size?
Yes, it is the Queen, and we would rather say so than disguise it. It also happens to be the only manufactured size that fits a French 50 × 70 cm pillow exactly: an envelope-flap pillowcase must be slightly longer than the pillow to cover it, and five centimeters is the normal allowance. The Standard, at 50 × 66 cm, would not close. The problem elsewhere is not where the size comes from: it is that you are sold a Standard or a King without being told how it turns out on your bed.

And the two pillowcases included with the bedding set?
They measure 48 × 74 cm, a North American size that fits neither a 65 × 65 square pillow nor a 50 × 70 rectangular one. We write this on the product page, as we do here, rather than leave you to find out on delivery. They suit a spare pillow. For pillowcases that fit your usual pillow exactly, ours are the ones.

Is the heatless curler made of satin?
No. It is foam covered with fabric, and we say so rather than let you believe otherwise. On this item, it is the shape that does the work, not the surface: the roll holds the strand while it dries. Satin, for its part, matters through prolonged contact with all of your hair — that is the job of the bonnet, which is worn over it.

How long does a curl last?
We will not give you a number. It depends on your hair texture, your length, the moisture in your hair at bedtime and the humidity of the air the next day. Any store that advertises “curls that last 48 hours” is inventing a number. We explain the mechanics in this article.

Which size should I choose?
Bonnets, durags and wave caps come in one adjustable size, designed for the vast majority of adults. The pillowcase and the bedding set have dimensions to choose from: see the questions on sizes, above. The bedding set is only available as a 200 × 200 cm duvet cover, in three or four pieces.

Which hair types is it for?
All of them: curly, tightly curled, coily, in locs, braided, straightened, colored or fine hair. Very curly strands and long lengths are more exposed to friction overnight.

How do I care for them?
Bonnets, durags and wave caps: wash by hand in lukewarm water with a mild soap, or machine wash at 30 °C in a mesh bag. Pillowcases go in the machine at 30 °C in a mesh bag. The bedding set too, on a delicate cycle: viscose wrinkles more easily than polyester and does not like heat. The curler is washed by hand, from time to time. In every case: air dry, no tumble dryer, no fabric softener, and never iron satin directly.

Does the bonnet stay on all night?
If it is placed correctly, yes. The wide elastic band holds the bonnet in place without squeezing or leaving a mark on the forehead. If it still slips, write to us.

Orders and returns

Can I change my mind?
Yes, and you have 30 days to do so. For 30 days after receipt, if a product does not suit you, write to us: we refund you, even if it has been worn, without you having to send it back. Once per customer; the conditions are in article 9 bis of our terms and conditions of sale. Independently of this guarantee, you always keep the 14-day legal right of withdrawal; under that right, the product must be sent back to us complete, at your expense.

My product arrived damaged, what should I do?
Write to us at contact@maisonsatinea.fr with a photo. We reply within 48 hours and find a solution: replacement or refund.

Do you have customer reviews?
We do not display any review until a customer has left one. We will not invent any and we will not buy any. Our way of collecting and publishing them is detailed on the Our review policy page.
